The Red Sea is a large, long body of water in a part of the world called the Middle East. It lies between certain countries of Africa and certain countries of the Middle East, and it opens at one end into the Indian Ocean. At its other end, the Red Sea connects with the Mediterranean Sea. The Red Sea is actually connected to the Mediterranean Sea by a canal that people built many years ago in Egypt. The canal is called the Suez Canal.
