definition: |
Greenland is a very large island in the northern part of the Atlantic Ocean. Only a small number of people live in Greenland because much of it is covered by ice. Greenland is part of the North American continent, but it has been ruled by Denmark, a country in Europe, for a very long time. Greenland has its own government, though, and is its own country in some ways too.
