A parliament is a large group of people who make the laws for a country. Many countries in the world have a parliament that makes the laws, but certain other countries have something a bit different. In America, for example, the group of people who make laws for the whole country is called the "Congress." Countries such as Canada, Australia, Japan, India, and the United Kingdom have parliaments.
The leading person in a parliament is called the "Prime Minister." A prime minister in a country has a role that is similar to the role of a president in other countries. |
