Sushi is a kind of food from Japan. The main ingredient in sushi is cooked rice that has a little vinegar and sugar mixed into it. Then, on top of the rice, or wrapped around it, is seaweed, fish, seafood, egg, or some kind of vegetable. The fish used in sushi is either cooked or raw. Vegetables used in sushi are often pickled.
People often eat sushi with a little soy sauce and a light green, spicy condiment called "wasabi." Wasabi is made from a plant that grows in Japan, and it is very hot! You don't have to add wasabi to sushi, but many people like it.
